The Phoenix Police Department recovered over 300 shell casings at the scene, highlighting the intensity of the gunfire.
Police responded to reports of shots fired near the intersection of 35th Avenue and McDowell Road, where they found Amanda Franco, 21, fatally shot. A teenage male victim was also discovered suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials stated that multiple people fled the scene as officers arrived.
The investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from a confrontation at the party, which escalated into gunfire outside the residence. Witnesses described the chaotic moments, with one telling 12News, “They started shooting like crazy. We were hit by bullets coming from all directions; it felt like they were shooting at us from everywhere.”
Authorities confirmed that several homes and vehicles in the neighborhood were struck by bullets as the gunfight unfolded.
