KANSAS CITY, MO – Authorities are investigating the deaths of a man and woman found in a Kansas City motel room over the weekend. Officers were initially responding to a missing person case when they made the grim discovery early Saturday morning.
Kansas City police arrived at a motel near North Corrington Avenue and Parvin Road around 3:45 a.m. While following up on the missing person lead, officers entered a room and found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities later identified the victims as 42-year-old Marvin Sessoms and 38-year-old Maleeka Sessoms. Their relationship has not been confirmed, and police have not released further details regarding potential suspects or motives. However, investigators are treating the case as a double homicide.
Law enforcement officials are actively gathering evidence and reviewing surveillance footage from the motel in hopes of uncovering leads. Detectives are also speaking with potential witnesses who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area before the incident occurred.
The Kansas City Police Department is urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in solving the case. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the CrimeStoppers TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477. A cash reward may be available for information leading to an arrest.
As the investigation continues, authorities are asking anyone with knowledge of the victims’ last known whereabouts or any unusual activity at the motel to provide details to law enforcement. More updates will be released as additional information becomes available.
