According to Autauga County Sheriff Mark Harrell, the shooting happened around 11:40 p.m. on Monday. Siblings Cameron Reynolds and his sister were targeted during the attempted carjacking. Tragically, Reynolds’ sister was pronounced dead at the scene, while he suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Following an overnight search, authorities arrested 27-year-old Kelmen Merrell King of Autaugaville on Tuesday morning. King has been charged with murder and attempted murder. Officials have not disclosed whether the suspect knew the victims or if the attack was a random act of violence.
