
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has identified 23-year-old DeSean Mackall of Temple Hills, Maryland, as one of the victims in a series of shootings that took place over the weekend in Washington, D.C. Mackall was fatally shot early on April 6 in the 4200 block of Dix Street NE, around 12:45 a.m. Despite efforts by first responders, Mackall was pronounced dead at the scene.
This marks the second fatal shooting between Saturday night and Sunday morning, part of a larger pattern of gun violence in the city. In total, four confirmed shootings occurred during this period. The first of these incidents took place on April 5 at around 9:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Eastern Avenue NE, where another man was found shot and later died at the scene.
Following that, police responded to a shooting at approximately 11:15 p.m. on the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue NE, where a man had been shot but remained conscious. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The violence continued shortly before midnight in Southeast D.C., where two women were shot at Capitol Street and Anacostia Drive. One woman suffered a graze wound, while the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.
The shooting spree has left the community concerned, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Authorities are investigating whether these incidents are connected and are working to gather more details. Residents are calling for greater action to address gun violence in the city.
