
SPRINGFIELD, IL — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred early Monday morning in Springfield as 19-year-old Camren White of Stonington, Illinois. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed White’s identity following an autopsy conducted Tuesday.
Emergency responders were called to a residence in the 800 block of West Lenox Street during the early morning hours after receiving a report of an injured individual. Upon arrival, EMS found White suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to Springfield Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel, White was pronounced dead at 1:46 a.m., shortly after arriving at the hospital. The autopsy later confirmed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds, aligning with initial reports that the incident was a shooting.
The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. At this time, no suspects have been named, and no arrests have been made. Authorities have not yet released information regarding a possible motive behind the shooting.
