Authorities identified the victim as 42-year-old Angela Johnson, who was driving a 2002 Honda CR-V southbound on Highway 51. At the same time, 46-year-old Amy Avent of McComb was traveling north in a 2017 Ford Fiesta when the two vehicles collided head-on under circumstances still being investigated.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and found both vehicles severely damaged. Tragically, Johnson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not released information regarding the condition of Avent or whether she was transported for medical treatment.
