SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — Authorities have arrested and charged four individuals following a fatal shooting earlier this week in the Olde Greenwich Circle neighborhood that left three young men dead and several others injured.
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office announced that the shooting, which occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, stemmed from an illegal firearm transaction that escalated into a robbery and deadly gunfire exchange.
The individuals charged include two 16-year-olds, one 17-year-old, and 18-year-old Jeremiah Upson. All four face charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and unlawful assembly.
Three of the suspects are currently being held without bond. One of the 16-year-olds, who was shot during the incident, remains hospitalized and will be taken into custody upon release. Authorities confirmed that two suspects are residents of Spotsylvania County, while the other two are from Caroline County.
The deceased have been identified as Chase Feaster, 18, and Alonzo Goffney, 18, both of Spotsylvania County. The identity of a third victim, a 20-year-old male, is being withheld pending official confirmation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Deputies responding to the scene found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. In addition to the three fatalities, three other individuals were injured and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Investigators say the chaotic shootout resulted from a planned but illegal gun deal that devolved into a robbery attempt. Detectives have been working closely with the Fredericksburg Police Department and Virginia State Police, who were praised by the sheriff’s office for their assistance during what has been described as a complex and emotionally charged case.
Authorities have not yet disclosed how the suspects obtained the firearms or whether additional individuals may be involved. The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active, with multiple leads under review.
Officials also acknowledged the community for its cooperation and understanding during the investigation and emphasized that more information would be released as it becomes available.
Anyone with further details is encouraged to contact the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office as investigators continue to piece together the events that led to this tragic and senseless act of violence.
