EL PASO, TX — Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed in a tragic crash on the east side of El Paso as 31-year-old Monderrio Turner. The incident occurred while Turner was riding westbound on Montana Avenue and attempting a U-turn, according to police investigators.
Officials with the El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations Unit reported that Turner was traveling in a lane designated specifically for U-turns when he failed to successfully navigate the curve. His motorcycle struck the curb, causing Turner to be ejected from the vehicle.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported Turner to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Turner succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The crash remains under investigation, and police have not yet confirmed whether speed, road conditions, or other factors played a role in the fatal collision.
This incident marks the 20th traffic-related death in El Paso so far in 2025, a concerning increase from the 14 fatalities recorded at this time last year. The rise in deadly crashes has prompted local authorities to renew calls for caution and safety on the roads, particularly among vulnerable road users like motorcyclists.
Police are reminding all drivers to remain alert, obey traffic laws, and exercise care, especially in complex traffic situations involving U-turns or sharp curves. Motorcyclists, in particular, face a higher risk of injury or death due to limited protection compared to drivers of other vehicles.
Friends and loved ones of Monderrio Turner are mourning his untimely passing. While no information regarding memorial services has been made public, the local community continues to express condolences and support for his family.
As the investigation continues, El Paso police are working to determine the full circumstances that led to the crash. In the meantime, law enforcement officials urge the public to take extra care on the roads to help prevent further tragedies.
