FARGO, N.D. — A tragic motorcycle crash in south Fargo claimed the life of a 26-year-old man late Saturday morning. Authorities have identified the victim as Andrew Rose, a Fargo resident. The accident occurred at the intersection of 36th Street and Westrac Drive and is being investigated by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
According to officials, Rose was riding his motorcycle northbound on 36th Street at a high rate of speed just before the crash. He failed to stop at a clearly marked stop sign at the intersection and collided with an SUV that was traveling east on Westrac Drive. The SUV had stopped at its designated sign and was already proceeding through the intersection when the impact occurred.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene shortly after receiving multiple 911 calls. Rose, who was wearing a helmet, sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that the helmet did not prevent the severity of the injuries due to the speed and force of the collision. The driver of the SUV was not hurt, while a passenger in the SUV suffered minor injuries and was treated on-site.
Investigators believe speed played a significant role in the accident. The crash happened in a residential and commercial area where traffic laws are clearly posted, and the intersection is well-marked. No charges are expected for the driver of the SUV, as initial findings suggest they followed all traffic laws before the crash occurred.
This incident has shaken the local community and serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers of speeding and ignoring traffic signs. With the summer months bringing more motorcyclists onto the roads, authorities are urging all drivers—especially those on two wheels—to exercise caution, obey posted signs, and stay alert behind the wheel.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage from the area is encouraged to contact law enforcement. Meanwhile, the community mourns the loss of Andrew Rose, remembering him as a young man whose life was tragically cut short in a preventable accident.
