CAMBRIDGE, MD — A 23-year-old Seaford man was shot and killed Sunday evening in Cambridge, Maryland, prompting an active investigation by police who are working to locate the gunman and several potential accomplices.
The Cambridge Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Camelia Street around 8:33 p.m. on June 8 following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Alyson Elien lying outside a vehicle in a driveway with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived and transported him to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
While processing the crime scene, investigators recovered a handgun and other key pieces of evidence. Surveillance footage from nearby cameras was also obtained, helping detectives quickly identify a primary suspect. Police confirmed that charges are being prepared, and efforts to locate the suspect are currently underway. However, they have not released the name of the individual at this time.
Authorities are also looking into the involvement of several other people who were present at the scene after the shooting. Shocking video evidence shows individuals gathering around Elien’s body—not to help, but allegedly to search his car and remove items. This behavior has disturbed investigators, who say it adds another layer of urgency to the case.
The Cambridge Police Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting or those seen in the video to come forward. Tips can be provided to the department’s Criminal Investigation Division by calling 410-228-3333. Officials stress that public cooperation is essential to ensure that everyone involved in this violent crime is held accountable.
As the investigation continues, the community is left grappling with yet another act of senseless violence. The loss of Alyson Elien has left his family and friends devastated, and local leaders are calling for justice. Detectives are actively reviewing evidence and pursuing leads, with additional updates expected in the coming days.
