Soledad, CA – A tragic multi-vehicle crash on Sunday night north of Soledad claimed the life of one person and left another with severe injuries. Authorities have identified the deceased as 25-year-old Uriel Morales of Salinas, according to the Monterey County Coroner’s Office. The crash, which involved three vehicles, occurred on southbound Highway 101 near Front Street around 7:44 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is still investigating the exact sequence of events that led to the collision. However, officials confirmed that one victim was ejected from a vehicle and died at the scene. Another person was also ejected and suffered major injuries. Emergency responders transported the injured individual to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Their condition remains undisclosed.
A second vehicle involved in the crash was carrying four people, including two children seated in the back. Fortunately, CHP reported that all four occupants are expected to recover without life-threatening injuries. The third vehicle had two people inside—one sustained minor injuries, while the other was unharmed.
Authorities are working to determine whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the deadly crash. Investigators are urging any witnesses or individuals with relevant information to come forward. CHP is also reminding the public of the dangers of high-speed roadways and the critical importance of wearing seatbelts, as vehicle ejections often result in severe or fatal injuries.
The tragic loss of Morales has left family, friends, and the local community mourning. As the investigation continues, officials hope to gain more clarity on what led to the crash. Meanwhile, those injured in the accident remain in the thoughts of many, with hopes for their full recovery.
CHP encourages drivers to practice safe driving habits and remain alert on the road to prevent future tragedies. Additional updates may be provided as the investigation progresses.
