BESSEMER, AL – Authorities are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 24-year-old man on Interstate 59/20 North near Academy Drive. The accident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. on March 18, 2025.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the wrecked vehicle with only one occupant inside. The driver, identified as Terence Bernard Summers, had sustained serious injuries. Paramedics transported him to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he was pronounced dead at 2:12 p.m.
The Bessemer Police Department is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether speed, road conditions, or mechanical failure contributed to the accident. No other vehicles were reported to be involved.
