A 25-year-old man who tragically died in a rollover crash on a freeway connector near Paramount has been identified as Ajoni Hooks Stuckey, county officials confirmed on Saturday. The fatal incident occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, when the SUV he was driving overturned on a transition ramp between two major Southern California freeways.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Stuckey was pronounced dead at the scene by responders from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The crash happened around 1:19 a.m. on the connector road linking the northbound 710 Freeway (Long Beach Freeway) to the westbound 105 Freeway (Glenn Anderson Freeway).
Reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicate that the vehicle, described as an SUV, flipped onto its roof for reasons that remain under investigation. It is unclear whether speed, mechanical failure, or any other factor contributed to the deadly crash. Authorities are working to piece together the moments leading up to the accident.
In response to the incident, CHP officers issued a SigAlert, closing the busy connector road from the 710 Freeway to the 105 Freeway to allow investigators and emergency personnel to safely manage the scene. The closure lasted for several hours, causing significant traffic delays in the early morning commute. The alert was lifted at approximately 4:15 a.m., once the roadway was cleared and reopened.
No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were noted. Officials have not confirmed whether Stuckey was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the rollover. Toxicology results and a full crash report are pending further investigation.
The tragic death of Ajoni Hooks Stuckey adds to a growing number of early morning freeway fatalities in the Los Angeles area, often occurring on high-speed connector ramps that can be particularly dangerous in low-light conditions. Authorities continue to urge drivers to remain cautious, especially when navigating freeway transitions. The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation and encourages anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information to come forward.
