
NEWHALL, Calif. (June 13, 2025) — A tragic accident in Santa Clarita claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy Thursday night after he was struck while skateboarding along Lyons Avenue in Newhall. Authorities say the crash occurred around 11:20 p.m. in the 23500 block of Lyons Avenue.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after receiving reports of a collision involving a skateboarder. Despite their efforts, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Alberto Castillo, a 16-year-old resident of Newhall. The community is now mourning the loss of the young teen, who is being remembered by friends and family as a vibrant and active part of the neighborhood.
