
LA PORTE COUNTY, IN — A tragic crash at the intersection of US 35 and CR 400 South on Thursday claimed the life of a 30-year-old motorcyclist. Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 11:35 a.m. after receiving reports of a personal injury crash.
According to the initial investigation conducted by Deputy Ken Etchison, a white 2023 Ford, driven by 68-year-old Amy M. Kollar of La Porte, was turning left from southbound US 35 to eastbound CR 400 South. During the maneuver, Kollar failed to yield to a northbound motorcycle, resulting in a collision.
The motorcycle, a blue 1993 Yamaha, was operated by 30-year-old Alec A. Tucker of Kingsford Heights. Tucker was transported by ground ambulance from the scene for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital. Kollar was not injured in the crash.
Toxicology test results are pending, and no further information is available for release at this time. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
Assisting agencies at the scene included Captain Dallas Smythe, Detectives Aaron Banic and Alex Pishkur, Deputies William Masterson and Jacob Payne, Michigan City and Westville Police Departments, Scipio and Center Township Volunteer Fire Departments, La Porte County EMS, and Quicks Towing.
The loss of Alec Tucker has left the Kingsford Heights community in mourning. Friends and family are remembering him as a vibrant individual whose life was tragically cut short.
