The crash, which occurred around 2 p.m., involved a GMC pickup truck and a Chevrolet Tahoe. Witnesses reported that one of the vehicles overturned during the accident.
Luna, a 40-year-old Border Patrol agent, was on his way to begin his shift at the McAllen station when the crash occurred. Despite immediate medical attention, Luna could not survive the injuries he sustained.
