
BOSTON, MA — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Dorchester as 41-year-old Anildo Cardoso of Roxbury. The Boston Police Department confirmed his identity following a violent incident that occurred Monday night, June 9, and has launched a homicide investigation.
Officers from District C-11 responded to the area of Levant Street around 8:51 p.m. after a ShotSpotter alert indicated gunfire in the vicinity. While en route, police received additional reports that a person had been shot near 4 Levant Street, just yards from the initial alert location. Upon arrival, officers discovered Cardoso suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Boston EMS arrived at the scene and began life-saving efforts before transporting the victim to Boston Medical Center. Despite the emergency response, Cardoso was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Police immediately secured the area, initiating a crime scene investigation as stunned residents watched from nearby homes.
