
LOUISBURG, KS – A tragic accident in Louisburg, Kansas, has claimed the life of a Drexel, Missouri, firefighter after a pickup truck lost control and crashed into a building on Tuesday .
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Kansas Highway 68 when the driver of a Chevrolet pickup veered off the road and slammed into a structure. Two people inside the building were struck by the vehicle.
Authorities identified the victims as Drexel firefighter Anthony Juarez and his wife, Devin. Emergency responders transported both to a hospital in Overland Park for treatment. While Devin is expected to recover from her injuries, Anthony succumbed to his injuries late Tuesday night.
The Drexel Police Department expressed deep sorrow over Juarez’s passing, remembering him for his dedication to the fire department and his service to the community. His colleagues and loved ones are mourning the loss of a committed first responder who put others before himself.
Investigators are still working to determine what caused the driver to lose control of the pickup truck. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role in the crash.
