FORT WORTH, TX — A 19-year-old man was killed and two others injured after gunfire broke out during a party early Sunday morning on Fort Worth’s north side. Police say the deadly shooting happened just after 12:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of North Houston Street, where officers responded to multiple calls reporting shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as Anthony Rangel, had been shot in the torso and forearm. He was taken to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead. Rangel’s sudden death has devastated his family and friends, who say he had his whole life ahead of him.
The second victim was also hospitalized but is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries. A third person injured in the incident was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. That individual is also in stable condition, according to police. The names of the other two victims have not been publicly released.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a heated argument at the party. Witnesses told police that two women got into a dispute over one of the male victims. As tensions rose, a group of unidentified individuals showed up at the gathering and became involved in a confrontation. During the altercation, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and opened fire on the crowd before fleeing in a vehicle.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and police have not released a description of the shooter or the getaway vehicle. Detectives are working to gather statements from witnesses and review any available surveillance footage. Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact the Fort Worth Police Department.
The shooting has left the community shaken and raised ongoing concerns about violence at youth gatherings. Many are calling for increased awareness and better conflict resolution strategies to prevent such tragedies. Community leaders are urging young people to think before reacting in anger and to report dangerous situations before they escalate.
Family members of Anthony Rangel have described him as a kind-hearted teenager who was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. As police continue their investigation, loved ones and community members are left mourning a young life taken far too soon.
