
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Authorities have identified one of two men killed in a shooting late Tuesday night in southeast Bakersfield. The Kern County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 37-year-old Anthony Victor Ochoa was among the victims found dead at the scene.
The shooting occurred around 9:40 p.m. on May 27 near the intersection of Flower Street and Williams Street. Deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to reports of gunfire and discovered two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the second victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Officials have not shared many details about the circumstances of the shooting, including how many times the victims were shot or whether there was any confrontation beforehand. Homicide detectives arrived shortly after the initial response and began canvassing the neighborhood, collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses. As of now, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified.
