DOVER, Del. — Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in a tragic crash earlier this week as 39-year-old Brandon Lemon, a resident of Dover. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of June 10 on the Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway, also known as State Route 1.
According to the Delaware State Police, the crash took place just before 2:30 a.m. as a Jeep Cherokee was traveling northbound in the right lane near the intersection with White Oak Road. Lemon was walking on the roadway in the vehicle’s lane when he was struck. Police say he was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing and did not have any lighting or reflective gear, making him difficult to see.
The driver of the Jeep, a 63-year-old man from Berlin, Maryland, was not injured in the crash. At this time, no charges have been filed, and investigators have not found any signs that speed or impairment played a role. The case remains under active investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit.
Authorities are asking for the public’s help as they work to determine the exact circumstances of the collision. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that could help investigators is urged to contact Master Corporal W. Booth at (302) 698-8451. Tips can also be submitted via private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or anonymously through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.

As the investigation continues, police are reminding pedestrians to stay safe while walking near roadways—especially at night. Wearing reflective clothing or carrying a light can help make individuals more visible to drivers and reduce the risk of serious accidents.
Further updates will be released as new details become available. In the meantime, the Dover community mourns the loss of Brandon Lemon and hopes the investigation brings answers and greater awareness about pedestrian safety.
