DOVER, Del. — Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in a tragic crash earlier this week as 39-year-old Brandon Lemon, a resident of Dover. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of June 10 on the Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway, also known as State Route 1.
According to the Delaware State Police, the crash took place just before 2:30 a.m. as a Jeep Cherokee was traveling northbound in the right lane near the intersection with White Oak Road. Lemon was walking on the roadway in the vehicle’s lane when he was struck. Police say he was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing and did not have any lighting or reflective gear, making him difficult to see.
The driver of the Jeep, a 63-year-old man from Berlin, Maryland, was not injured in the crash. At this time, no charges have been filed, and investigators have not found any signs that speed or impairment played a role. The case remains under active investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit.
