BLOOMINGDALE, Ga. — A tragic multi-vehicle crash in Bloomingdale on Thursday morning claimed the life of 32-year-old Carly Holubik, a dedicated local teacher and mother. The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. in Effingham County and is under active investigation by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO).
Authorities say a fully loaded concrete truck struck the back of a small sedan, triggering a chain-reaction collision involving multiple vehicles. Holubik, who was in the sedan that was first hit, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators are working to determine what caused the crash and whether charges will be filed.
Holubik’s death has sent shockwaves through the Effingham County School District. She was an eighth-grade teacher at South Effingham Middle School and also served on the STARS Staff at Guyton Elementary. Known for her passion for teaching and her connection with students, she had taught in the district for the past three years.
District Superintendent Yancy Ford expressed his sorrow in a statement, calling Holubik a valued educator and beloved member of the ECSD family. “She brought energy, kindness, and passion to her work every day,” he said. “We are heartbroken by her loss, and we ask the entire community to keep her husband, her sons, and all who loved her in their thoughts and prayers.”
In response to the tragedy, grief counselors have been made available at South Effingham Middle School to support grieving students and staff. The school has planned remembrance activities to honor Holubik’s life and legacy, encouraging students to share their feelings through creative expression.
The ECSO continues to investigate the crash and is seeking help from the public. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is urged to contact the ECSO traffic unit at 912-754-3449. Officials are examining whether driver error, mechanical failure, or other factors played a role.
As tributes pour in across social media, Holubik is being remembered as a devoted teacher, caring mother, and beacon of positivity. Her sudden loss has left a lasting void in her school, her family, and the community she served so selflessly.
