
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Southeast D.C. as 39-year-old Derrick Howard of Baltimore, Maryland. The incident took place on Tuesday, March 18, around 11 a.m. in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrived at the scene, they found Howard unconscious with a gunshot wound. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene before he could be transported to a hospital.
Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to determine the events leading up to the incident and identify any potential suspects. Authorities have not disclosed any possible motives at this time.
