ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 19-year-old suspect has been taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on the city’s west side earlier this week. According to the Rochester Police Department, Dhymere Bailey, 19, was arrested on Friday morning for allegedly shooting and killing 39-year-old Sandra Blanding near a vacant lot on Spencer Street.
The homicide took place on Wednesday, prompting an intensive investigation by law enforcement. Authorities report that Bailey attempted to flee when officers moved to apprehend him. Upon his arrest, he was found in possession of a loaded handgun, which police believe was used in the fatal shooting. Investigators are still working to determine a motive for the killing and currently do not believe Bailey and Blanding knew each other prior to the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police urge anyone with information related to the case to contact the Rochester Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
