
A tragic shooting in Prince George County, Virginia, early Thursday morning has claimed the life of 26-year-old D’Mond Taylor of Chesterfield County. Authorities have since arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.
The shooting occurred at approximately 12:19 a.m. on February 27 in the 5000 block of Owens Way. Officers with the Prince George County Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and arrived to find Taylor suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Following an investigation, authorities identified 24-year-old Charles Young IV of Petersburg as the suspect. Young was located and arrested at approximately 6 a.m. He has been formally charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Young is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail.
Law enforcement officials have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the Prince George County community. The arrest of Young has provided some measure of relief, but the loss of D’Mond Taylor has left family, friends, and the community in mourning.
