HEAVENER, Okla. — A shooting early Tuesday morning in Heavener has left one man dead and a woman critically injured, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI). The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on June 11 at an apartment along State Highway 128 in LeFlore County.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered 20-year-old Dylan McGee deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. A 21-year-old woman was also found at the scene suffering from serious injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition. As of Tuesday evening, she was described as “fighting for her life,” officials said.
Initially, OSBI mistakenly reported that the woman had also died, but the agency later retracted that statement and confirmed she was still alive. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation, and authorities have not yet confirmed what led to the violence.
The Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police are working with OSBI to investigate the case. Authorities have stated that no suspects are currently at large, which suggests that investigators may have already identified those involved or ruled out the possibility of an active threat to the community.
As of Tuesday night, OSBI had not announced any arrests or charges in connection with the case. They also have not released the name of the injured woman or disclosed any potential relationship between the two victims. It remains unclear whether the shooting was domestic in nature, accidental, or the result of a dispute.
The small community of Heavener has been left rattled by the tragic incident. Residents living near the apartment complex expressed shock and sadness over the news, as local law enforcement secured the area and gathered evidence throughout the day. Authorities are expected to conduct forensic analysis, interview witnesses, and review any available surveillance footage as the investigation continues.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the OSBI or local law enforcement. As the investigation unfolds, friends and family of the victims are left searching for answers and hoping for recovery and justice. Further updates are expected once more details become available or if charges are filed in the case.
