ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A 23-year-old woman from University City is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly opening fire on two women during a violent altercation at Koeneman Park in Jennings. The shooting, which occurred Saturday evening, left one victim in critical condition and was witnessed by parkgoers and captured on livestream.
St. Louis County Police responded to the 2600 block of Shannon Avenue, near the park, just after 6 p.m. on May 30. According to police, the incident began as a physical altercation between two people. When two bystanders attempted to break up the fight, the suspect—identified as Imani R. Easley —allegedly retrieved a Glock pistol and fired several shots.
One woman was struck in the right arm, while the other was hit in the chest. Both were transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Officials confirmed that the woman with the chest wound remains in critical condition. The other victim is expected to recover from her injuries.
Authorities say the shooting was recorded by witnesses and livestreamed on Facebook, which played a significant role in quickly identifying Easley. She was arrested shortly after the incident, and according to a probable cause statement, later admitted to shooting both women. The motive behind the shooting has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether Easley had any prior relationship with the victims.
Easley has been charged by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. She is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond. A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for June 9, with a preliminary court appearance set for July 2.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. They are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has additional footage to come forward. The public’s assistance could help shed more light on the moments leading up to the gunfire and determine whether any other individuals were involved.
The violent episode has alarmed residents who frequent the popular park. Community leaders are now calling for increased safety measures and peaceful conflict resolution. As the legal process moves forward, the focus remains on the recovery of the victims and seeking justice through the courts.
