DAYTON, Ohio — A 26-year-old woman was killed in a Tuesday night shooting in the 600 block of Troy Street, authorities confirmed. Jamie Guadagno was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds around 9:00 p.m., according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.
Dayton Police officers responded to reports of gunfire and found Guadagno critically injured at the scene. Lt. Eric Sheldon confirmed first responders immediately rendered aid before transporting her to the hospital, where she later died. The Dayton Police Homicide Unit has assumed control of the investigation, though no suspect information has been released.
Neighbors reported hearing an argument followed by several gunshots, but police have not confirmed whether Guadagno knew her assailant. Crime scene technicians spent hours collecting evidence, including multiple shell casings, as detectives canvassed the residential area for surveillance footage.
Guadagno, remembered by friends as a vibrant young woman who worked at a local daycare, had recently moved to the neighborhood. “Jamie had this incredible gift with children,” said coworker Marissa Tolbert. “She was the kind of person who lit up every room.”
The shooting marks Dayton’s 12th homicide this year. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Dayton Police at (937) 333-2677 or Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at (937) 222-7867. A $5,000 reward is offered for tips leading to an arrest.
