
LEWISTON, ME – Authorities are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a pickup truck early Monday morning. The Lewiston Police Department reported that the incident occurred just after 4:30 a.m. on Main Street, resulting in the death of a local woman.
Upon arrival, officers found 44-year-old Jessica Sawyer of Lewiston critically injured. Emergency responders rushed her to Central Maine Medical Center, but she later succumbed to her injuries. Officials confirmed that Sawyer was struck while attempting to cross Main Street.
The vehicle involved was a 2024 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 31-year-old man from Auburn. According to investigators, the pickup truck was traveling inbound on Main Street when it struck Sawyer, who was in the roadway at the time.
Police have not yet determined the full circumstances of the collision but indicated that weather and road conditions may have played a role. At this stage of the investigation, no charges have been filed against the driver.
