
WASHINGTON COUNTY, KY — A tragic collision in Washington County, Kentucky, resulted in the death of a 98-year-old Springfield man on March 16, 2025. Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers responded to the scene at the intersection of KY 150 and Bloomfield Road at 4:06 p.m. EST following reports of a serious crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that John Keeling, 98, was traveling north on Bloomfield Road in a 2013 Cadillac CTS when he attempted to cross KY 150 to continue north. However, Keeling failed to see an oncoming vehicle, a 2015 Ford Taurus traveling west on KY 150, driven by Tyler Edrington, 36, of Shelbyville. The Taurus collided with Keeling’s Cadillac, resulting in a severe impact.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but John Keeling was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Coroner due to the extent of his injuries. Tyler Edrington, the driver of the Ford Taurus, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Multiple agencies assisted at the crash site, including the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Springfield Police Department, Washington County Fire/EMS, Washington County Coroner, and Kentucky State Highway Department. Authorities have not yet determined whether speed, visibility issues, or other factors played a role in the crash. Detective Weston Sullivan of KSP Post 15 is leading the ongoing investigation.
