Chicago, IL — June 5, 2025 — A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed late Monday night in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood after an argument turned violent. Police are now asking the public for help as they work to identify those responsible for the attack.
The incident happened just before 11:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of South California Avenue. Officers from the Chicago Police Department responded to reports of a fight and found a man suffering from serious stab wounds. The victim, identified as Maximillion Flores, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency crews. He lived in the same neighborhood where the stabbing took place.
According to police, Flores got into an argument with a woman who was with a group of people. What started as a verbal dispute quickly became physical. Investigators believe that members of the group stepped in and attacked Flores. During the fight, one person reportedly stabbed him with a sharp object. The motive behind the argument is still unknown, and no one has been arrested.
Authorities have not confirmed if Flores knew the people involved or if the attack was random. Police have also not released any details about the woman or others who were present during the stabbing. Surveillance video from nearby buildings is being reviewed, and detectives are searching for more clues to help solve the case.
The violent death has left the Brighton Park community shocked and saddened. Although it is generally quieter than other parts of the city, the area has seen a rise in violence. Residents say they are concerned about safety and are calling for more police presence. Officers are expected to increase patrols in the neighborhood to ease fears and prevent more incidents.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact Area One detectives at 312-747-8380. Tips can also be submitted anonymously at CPDtip.com or by calling 911. Officials say even small details—such as seeing a group in the area around the time of the attack—could help bring justice for Maximillion Flores and bring peace to a community still mourning his loss.
