TUNICA COUNTY, Miss. — A tragic single-vehicle accident on Tuesday morning has claimed the life of a 22-year-old woman and left a juvenile injured, according to the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred around 9:45 a.m. on Prichard Road in Tunica, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a heavily damaged vehicle with two occupants inside. Emergency responders immediately began rendering aid. One of the occupants, identified as Mya Jackson of Tunica, Mississippi, was treated on-site by Pafford EMS personnel. Despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Tunica County Coroner Glenn Grant.
The second occupant of the vehicle, described as a male juvenile, also received treatment from first responders. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted via Wings to a regional hospital for advanced medical care. His current condition has not been disclosed, and his identity has been withheld due to his age. Authorities are continuing to monitor his status.
A motorist traveling along Prichard Road at the time of the crash witnessed the incident and was the first to alert law enforcement by calling 911. The motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, providing crucial information that may aid in the investigation.
