HARTFORD, Conn. — A fatal hit-and-run crash on Main Street has claimed the life of 42-year-old Nicholas Thompson, a local bicyclist. Hartford police confirmed the tragic incident happened Monday evening around 8:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Main Street.
According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department, officers arrived to find Thompson lying unresponsive in the road. They immediately began administering lifesaving measures before EMS arrived. Despite their efforts, Thompson was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Thompson had been riding his bicycle southbound when he was struck from behind by a vehicle. Instead of stopping, the driver continued on and subsequently crashed into a parked car. After the second collision, the people inside the vehicle fled the scene on foot.
Authorities have not yet identified the driver involved and are continuing their investigation into the fatal incident. Lt. Boisvert stated on Tuesday that there were no significant updates at the time, but the police remain focused on collecting evidence and tracking down the suspects.
The Hartford Police Department is urging anyone with information about the crash, the fleeing suspects, or surveillance footage from the area to come forward. Tipsters can remain anonymous if they choose, and any detail—no matter how small—could help move the case forward.
Thompson’s untimely death has shocked the local community and raised concerns about road safety and accountability. As his loved ones mourn the loss, police are committed to bringing those responsible to justice.
