LUBBOCK, Texas — A fatal motorcycle crash in North Lubbock on Thursday evening has claimed the life of 37-year-old Richard Cisneros. The Lubbock Police Department confirmed Cisneros’ identity on Friday following the deadly collision, which occurred at the intersection of 4th Street and Slide Road around 8:07 p.m.
According to the department’s Major Crash Unit, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV. When police arrived, they discovered Cisneros suffering from critical injuries. Emergency medical services quickly transported him to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators say Cisneros was riding his motorcycle southbound on Slide Road when the crash occurred. A 2015 Chevrolet SUV, driven by 38-year-old Amanda Salazar, was attempting to turn north from a nearby parking lot onto Slide Road. During the turn, the motorcycle collided with the SUV, leading to the fatal outcome. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Salazar was not injured in the crash, and no other injuries were reported. Authorities have not released any information about possible citations or charges at this time. The crash remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made as of Friday afternoon.
The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigators are working to determine whether speed, visibility, or other factors played a role in the collision. Police are asking any witnesses or individuals with information about the crash to come forward to assist in the investigation.
The tragic death of Richard Cisneros has left his family and friends grieving, while the community reflects on the importance of road safety—especially when it comes to motorcycles. This incident marks another heartbreaking reminder of how quickly lives can be lost in traffic collisions. As the investigation continues, officials urge all drivers to remain alert and cautious, particularly in areas with frequent vehicle and pedestrian activity.
