TAYLOR COUNTY, WI – A single-vehicle accident in Taylor County has claimed the life of a 34-year-old man, according to local authorities. The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred on the night of March 17, 2025, in the Town of Medford. Deputies and emergency responders were dispatched to W5259 Allman Avenue at approximately 9:23 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash.
Upon arrival, deputies found an SUV in the eastbound lane of the roadway. The sole occupant, identified as Rudy Rene Mendoza-Carranza of Medford, was unresponsive inside the vehicle. Authorities later confirmed that he had succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
Preliminary investigations suggest that excessive speed was a primary factor. Mendoza-Carranza was reportedly traveling westbound on Allman Avenue at high speed when he lost control of the vehicle. The SUV veered off the road, entered a ditch, and struck multiple trees before coming to a stop. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle, leading to fatal injuries.
The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement agencies are conducting a thorough investigation to determine whether other factors, such as road conditions, weather, or mechanical failure, played a role in the crash. Authorities are also awaiting toxicology reports to rule out impairment as a contributing factor.
Mendoza-Carranza’s sudden passing has deeply affected the Medford community, where he was known and respected. Friends, family, and neighbors have expressed their sorrow over the tragic incident, remembering him as a valued member of the town.
Law enforcement officials are using this tragedy as a reminder of the dangers of speeding, particularly on rural roads. Authorities continue to urge drivers to obey posted speed limits, remain alert, and prioritize safety to prevent similar incidents in the future.
