According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Lahik was a passenger in a 2024 Camry traveling eastbound on Central Florida Parkway when a BMW, driven by a 26-year-old, attempted to overtake them from behind. The BMW moved to the inside lane to complete the overtake but collided with the front of the Camry when attempting to reenter the outside lane. The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the road, leading to catastrophic consequences.
The Camry struck a light pole and collided with several trees, while one passenger was ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the Camry, a 20-year-old from Kissimmee, survived the crash, but his two passengers, Lahik and another yet-to-be-identified individual, died. The driver and one passenger in the BMW also lost their lives. The FHP is actively investigating the crash and has identified speed as a contributing factor. Lahik, a standout student, had recently been admitted to Duke University in January.
