
POOLESVILLE, Md. — A man from Germantown has been identified as the victim of a deadly crash that occurred in Poolesville on Wednesday morning. The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) released the victim’s identity on Friday, confirming that 30-year-old Scott Adkins lost his life in the collision.
The crash happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Darnestown Road and Cattail Road. According to investigators, Adkins was driving a Ford Fusion when it collided with a Kenworth semi-truck that was towing a trailer. Police said the Ford struck the side of the truck, but the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Emergency crews responded quickly, but sadly, Adkins was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with critical but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not released the name of the injured passenger but confirmed that they are receiving medical care.
The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt and remained at the scene to speak with police. MCPD noted that the truck driver is cooperating fully with the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time, and there is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
