Bali, Indonesia — A deadly shooting at a private villa in Bali has left one Australian man dead and another injured, sparking a major police investigation and concern among tourists. The violent incident occurred on Saturday at Villa Casa Santisya, a luxury accommodation located near Munggu Beach in the Badung regency, a popular area known for its peaceful beaches and upscale resorts.
Police identified the victim as 32-year-old Zivan Radmanovic from Melbourne, Australia. Authorities say Radmanovic was fatally shot, and despite emergency treatment at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, he could not be saved. A second Australian man, whose identity has not been released, suffered injuries believed to be the result of a physical assault. According to police, he was reportedly punched during the attack and is currently recovering.
Police Chief Arif Batubara confirmed that an investigation is underway and that officers are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence from the villa. So far, the motive for the attack remains unclear. Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities, including robbery, a personal dispute, or another kind of confrontation. No suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made at this time.
“We are actively pursuing all leads,” Chief Batubara said in a press statement. “We are speaking with potential witnesses and reviewing all available surveillance footage to find those responsible.” He added that it is still too early in the investigation to determine if the attack was targeted or random.
The news has shocked both local residents and Bali’s tourist community, especially given the reputation of the Munggu Beach area as a safe and quiet destination. Villa Casa Santisya is typically used by foreign tourists seeking a peaceful stay away from Bali’s busier nightlife spots. The sudden violence has raised concerns about safety, and police say extra patrols may be added if needed.
Australian officials have been informed of the tragedy. The Australian embassy in Jakarta is expected to assist the victims’ families and may work closely with Indonesian authorities during the investigation. As the search for answers continues, police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Updates are expected in the coming days as officials work to uncover the full truth behind this heartbreaking event.
